The 2048 game is arguably the most famous number merge game. Players slide number tiles around a grid, combining tiles with the same numbers to double their value. The smallest number tiles are the 2s. And the goal of the game is to keep combining the tiles to create a tile with the number 2048. Players can continue past the 2048 number to achieve even higher scores.

2Combine3

A cross between Tetris and 2048, 2Combine3 is the new kid on the block. On top of combining matching number tiles, the tiles are also constantly dropping from the top like Tetris. Plus you have the added challenge of smallest number tiles being 2s and 3s instead of just 2s like 2048.

If you are looking for a more relaxed game that requires some strategy, there is also a casual mode where you can take your time to drop the number tiles without any time limit.

Threes!

Threes! is another popular number merge game. This game was actually the inspiration for 2048 and has a similar gameplay style. Instead of merging 2s, players merge 1s and 2s to create 3s, and then merge matching numbers from there. It’s praised for its charming design and slightly more complex gameplay.

Merged!

In Merged!, players merge dice with the same numbers. This game introduces a different strategic element, as players need to think about the placement of the dice on the board. If you place three or more of the same number dice next to each other (either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), they will merge to form a dice with the next number up.

Twenty

Swipe the number tiles in any direction to move them up, down, left, or right. When two tiles of the same number collide, they combine and increase to the next number. For example, the number tiles “3” and “3” will combine to become the “4” number tile. “5” and “5” will give you “6” and so on.

The game becomes more difficult over time as additional tiles are added to the board at regular intervals.

The Ouroboros symbolizes the cyclic and infinite nature of the universe with the Ouroboros eating its own tail to keep itself alive. From death comes life and from destruction comes creation, an infinite cycle of renewal.

Tarot. Occult tarot decks which are used for divination since the 18th century also feature the infinity symbol in some of its cards. The symbol represents the eternal and endless nature of energy, with the perpetual interaction between energy and matter. It can also refer to the infinite nature of human spirit or thoughts.

Tying The Knot

When people get married, we say that they are tying the knot. And there’s actually a meaningful story behind this saying, a very old one too! It likely dates back to several old traditions including a church tradition where a couple’s hands are tied together with a fabric as part of their wedding ceremony. Like their hands bound together by a knot, so are they bound together in marriage.

From Norse and Celtic to Hindi marriage rituals, binding husband and wife physically together is a symbolic gesture which signify the union of two lovers. While in Norse and Celtic rituals, the hands of both lovers are bind together with a rope or dyed cloth, in Hindi weddings, the groom’s scarf is tied together with the bride’s garment.

While we do not know the exact origin behind the phrase “tying the knot”, it is very possible that one of the rituals above inspired it.

Knots themselves, which symbolize unbreakable pledges in the folklore of many cultures, were also used in many marriage rituals. For example, a Celtic knot is used to propose marriage. Similar to an engagement ring in modern times, the knot is accepted if the woman accepts the marriage proposal. A knot tied using gold wire was also believed to be used by sailors at sea as a form of wedding ring.

The marriage knot is also known as the knot of Hercules, as he was considered the guardian of wedded life. As part of Roman wedding rituals,  it was tied around the bride’s wedding dress and only the groom could untie the knot.
